And here it is, folks! A healthier recipe for vegan donuts!
Ok so, here’s the thing; I live in Arkansas. And even though there are various stores that carry vegan options, it’s not easy to find something that you like that’s actually affordable and easily available.
I have only found fried cake donuts here thus far. They were fantastic, but that didn’t quit hit the donut craving spot for me. I looked online and found some air-fried donut recipes. Most of these weren’t vegan. I did manage to put something together especially after finding this recipe by @lovelydelites. I did, of course, make a few alterations to all of these recipes to fit what I was aiming for.
These donuts hit the spot for me majorly. But I have to say, since they’re not fried they are not airy and as fluffy. The chocolate glaze makes it all come together. This chocolate glaze is amazing! Let alone it’s so easy to make, minus the mundane task of whisking it until it becomes an actual glaze. It is so worth it though, I promise.
These air-fried, chocolate glazed vegan donuts are such a treat (pun intended) in our household. This pandemic has made it hard for us to enjoy leaving our house, this includes the grocery store and restaurants alike. The first time I made them, they were in the form of donut holes, and they were amazing!!! We were instantly hooked. We have since craved donuts/ chocolate glazed baked goods multiple times, and didn’t want to leave the house to get our fix. These donuts satisfied our craving and saved us from having to deal with the gloominess outside.
Enough about out donut cravings, haha!

Low Fat Vegan Donut Recipe:
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup self-rising flour
2 cups almond milk
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2tbsl vegetable oil
2 tbsps flaxseed + 3tbsp water
2 tbsps vanilla extract
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 pinch salt
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl, cover and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
Then make donuts of the dough. Stick them in the convection oven (on air fryer setting) and let them bake at 350F for 7-10 minutes.
Once they’re done I lightly sprayed them with cooking oil and let them cool for 10 minutes, then cover them with chocolate glaze (powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vegetable oil and almond milk).
