This applesauce is very easy to make. On the other hand, it takes a while to cook. But who wouldn’t like a homemade version especially that it’s an excellent egg-replacer for baking?!
Applesauce
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 5 tbsp lemon juice
- 4 medium ripe red delicious apples
- 2 tbsp sugar (in the raw)
Instructions
- Pour two cups of water into a non-stick pan.
- Add lemon juice and stir.
- Peel and core apples.
- Chop them up and toss them into pan.
- Add sugar and give all the ingredients a little stir.
- Bring to a boil then reduce heat.
- Leave them to cook over medium heat for about 2 hours. Keep an eye on them throughout the 2 hours. You can start mashing them up as soon as they're soft enough.
- Mash them up in the pan or use a food processor.
- Serve.
